Welcome from the Presidents
Welcome to the website of the Wembley Lacrosse
Club -
home of the Wolves and Waves!
The men’s and women’s clubs are now combined under the
one banner of the Wembley Lacrosse Club.
When the Wolves/Waves Amalgamation Taskforce first met in
December 2005 the following reasons for joining the two
clubs were identified:
To reflect and enhance the sense of
community and common purpose between the two clubs,
underscored by the number of members concerned with both
sectors.
Economies of scale – volunteer help, insurance
-
Spreading of risk
Sharing of resources
Continued and
improved government support
Increased marketing and
sponsorship opportunities
Cohesive strategies for planning
and development
Making it easier to attract new members,
especially families.
As well as the usual office bearers, the board of
directors now includes a Director of Men’s Lacrosse and a
Director of Women’s Lacrosse. In liaison with others, these
two directors oversee the day-to-day running of their
respective sectors such as appointment of coaching staff and
the various issues involved in getting teams on to the field
each weekend.
The new combined structure has demonstrated flexibility,
new ideas and the desire to work together. The future looks
promising for our bigger, brighter club.
This site will provide you with a range of information, catering for primary school-aged girls
and boys through to senior women and men. It will also highlight social
activities, along with the achievements of our teams and players, in the
hope that visitors might get an insight into being part of Wembley Lacrosse.
To those of you who may be visiting our website with
a view to joining and being part of 'the
fastest sport on two feet', we encourage you to contact our administrators
through the contacts page.
Again, welcome to Wembley Lacrosse.
CLUBROOMS & FACILITIES

|
Wembley Lacrosse
Club is based at Floreat Oval, on the corner of Oceanic Drive and
Ulster Road, Floreat. Both the Wolves and the Waves use these facilities.
As part of the Town of Cambridge's Floreat Sporting
Precinct development, Floreat Oval facilities and surrounds were
recently updated. Part of the development was the refurbishment
and extension of our clubrooms and the installation of a further
two 12m lighting towers.
Our clubrooms and fields are now amongst the best
in the state. With improved kitchen and bar facilities, a wide viewing
balcony and the increase in clubroom floor space all looks well
for an action- packed social calendar and our bids for State and
National championships and tournaments. |
